Baby News Flash

But Flash because if you weren't careful you would have missed him arriving! Our baby Wesley finally came to see us today at 6:50am after we only got to the hospital somewhere between 5:45 and 6:00. When we got in they verified that Jacie's water had broken without a doubt but that she was only at "almost" 4cm dilated. But since we knew we were staying I ran to the car to get the bags and when I get back they were working on getting an IV for pain meds. However, during the course of trying to find a good vein to stick her with, Jacie told them she was starting to feel the urge to push. One nurse asked if she had checked recently and she kind of agreed to check again but it had only been about 15-20min at this point. Well the look on her face was pretty priceless as she started trying to grab the phone but keep checking Wesley because he was well on his way! The doctor arrived a few minutes later (after a short, flurry of activity completely changed the room to get ready for delivery) and he gave Jacie the go ahead to push. 4 Pushes later, little Wesley was out, getting cleaned up and crying. He got 8 out of 9 on his tests and weighed 6lbs 14oz and was 18in long. Both Jacie and Wesley are doing great (in fact Jacie said she barely even feels like she had a baby) and we are just in the hospital on the mandatory time frame for newborns but right now it looks like we are on track to head home tomorrow afternoon sometime. But enough with my typing.... on to pictures! Happy Birthday Wesley! Jacie, Carly, and I are so glad you are here with us!

Little Update

Been awhile since we posted, but I guess we both assumed because we were in Tennessee/Kentucky, you all don't need updates! But here's a few:
Carly started Ballet last week. She goes on Mondays for 45 minutes, and loves it. I don't have any pictures (yet) because she has only gone once. Our luck- her second week was their spring break! She loves getting all dressed up and feeling pretty. My mom will be taking her until after the baby is born, and then I will step in. I'm also thinking about enrolling her in swimming lessons for the summer. She is so close to being able to swim, that lessons would just perfect it!
Ray is starting the backyard this weekend. Mark will be up here Saturday, so hopefully he can offer a few pointers. As soon as we have established grass, we are going to get Carly a swing set. We took her to Toys R Us to look at them (When did they get to be in the $500 range?!) And let her pick out a few. She can't wait, but she also wants a trampoline, haha.
We are now less than two months out (A little over 7 weeks) until baby time. The baby is active all the time, and seems to love being awake between 10:00 pm and 11:00 pm. Ray and I have a class next week on taking care of infants. I'm looking forward to the refresher course.
The baby shower is somewhat in swing for two weeks from this weekend. I wish everyone who was out of state could come, but we will see you all shortly after the baby is here. We feel so unprepared for this baby supply-wise, but have been holding off on buying a lot of little stuff until the shower. It will be nice to be able to take a step back and figure out what we need.
All of us are well though... Carly has a slight ear and sinus infection (again) but is still in good spirits. Ray is just working, working, working, and loves every second of it! And I am just really, really tired. I feel like I can never get enough sleep!
I shall leave you with the one picture I have. I hope everyone is well!

Well. he survived!

Ray has officially survived his first (but certainly not last!) child vomiting epidemic. He handled it VERY well (And by very well, I  mean he didn't join in on the fun!) Carly must have taken a round of food poisoning somewhere, because she complained her tummy was hurting all day yesterday. She was a good girl anyway, and went miniature golfing with us, and then to lunch. But a stop in Babys R Us, she became cranky and wanted to just sit in a rocking chair. On the way home, she ended up being sick in the car, so I pulled over to clean her up. Ray pulled over and joined us, but admitted he was only there as comfort, and was trying not to look! But, he did well. He forfeited his spot on the bed so Carly could sleep in bed with me, and he help me clean her car seat and the van. He also ran and got her ice chips every time she called for them... I think this little girl has got him wrapped around her tiny fingers!
Carly is feeling much better today, and just inhaled lunch because she was so hungry. I think Ray is kind of realizing that this was just a prelude of what is to come!

The Last Gym Class

So last month saw the end of the gymnastics class that Carly was going to for the last year. She absolutely loved it and we kind of hated seeing them close (though Jacie and I will not miss the drive home from after right at 5:15 at all). Since it was the last performance, we decided it was a good time to break out the camera again and record it for everyone. She absolutely loved it and I think really enjoyed showing everyone what she could do. It sounds like she wants to find a tap class now instead of another gym but we will see. The video is around 98mb so it will take a little bit to download but definitely worth the wait!
And yes I will get the video from Christmas morning posted also.

Quick Update!

Ray was supposed to post some Christmas stuff, but apparently he has forgotten! I just reminded him, so hopefully he will have some time to get to it soon.
Carly had a wonderful Christmas. She is probably the most spoiled child I have ever met! She is now counting down the months until her birthday again, hehe. She is also counting down the days until the baby is here. She asked Ray the other day if she could rock him in his rocking bed (We looked at some bassinets with her a few days ago) and asked if she could sing to him. She is also helping my little sister, Jordan, make him a blanket. Carly loves referring to herself as "The Big Sister," and I think will do a pretty good job at it. We enrolled her in a Sibling Class at our hospital for May, which will show her how to hold the baby, help feed him, and etc. We also enrolled Ray and I into a similar class but for parents. I figured I can use the refresher and Ray... well, Ray is nervous as he can be. Hopefully this eases him a tad.
We had our anatomy ultrasound today. She says the baby is measuring perfectly, and weighing in at 9 oz. Almost to a pound! He was moving so much that she had trouble getting the measurements at first. She did confirm that, yes, he still is a boy. Although when she went to check that part he flashed it for about 2 second and then crossed his legs Indian style. She got another shot at the end and said he is definitely a boy! He also seems to have all his parts- the heart is fully developed, the umbilical cord is great, and he has all his body parts. Seems we are on time with a due date of June 10th. I'm feeling good for the most part, gained only 4 pounds (At almost 20 weeks, I am so proud of myself!) but still don't look anymore pregnant than I ever did. I have had a rough week, finally nausea has found me, and made me a little incapacitated for a few days. I am starting to feel better, and the doctor gave me some medicine to try and curb it. Ray has been taking care of me all week while I was bed ridden, and did a really good job of it! He also took care of Carly, getting her dressed, fed, off to school and back. He is definitely a good daddy to that kid!
I will pester him some more about the Christmas video/pictures when he is done working. And also, I will get the new ultrasound pictures scanned. Our doctor only gave us two, but we will get them up anyway!

Busy Christmas Week

Well we are coming down to the wire on our first Christmas together. Carly is super excited about Santa coming this week. Every time I ask her who is coming she says "Ho ho ho... Santa" in a whisper. She is really looking forward to making cookies for him Thursday and then getting to open the presents on Friday morning. We are looking forward to wrapping them and at this point it will probably only be on the presents for like 36 hours. But it will all be worth it. I am certain we will be video taping it since one of Jacie's presents to me was a video camera (which works great and I love it... Thanks Baby!). Speaking of the video camera, I got to open it early in honor of Carly's Christmas Program at school with her kindergarten class. It was great watching her sing and dance to Jingle Bell Rock. If you don't believe me (and I know that you actually do but that is not the point), you can check out the video here. It is about 18MB to download but I am working on trying to get a streaming version uploaded.
In other news, we have a former Christmas surprise (love you honey!). We had intended to wait until Christmas Day to tell people but Jacie caved to the peer pressure at the DMV and started telling people. We were going to alternate between saying girl and boy every time someone asked but it didn't quite work out that way. But we have told most people but it is still good to say that we are officially expecting a baby boy in June. It is even better with (2D and 3D ultrasound) pictures!

I think Jacie is still a little paranoid that the ultrasound lady might have gotten it wrong but everyone that has seen it seems to be pretty certain it's a boy. We have our "official" (we did this one separately to have some Christmas news) appointment on the 13th so it will just be double confirmation then I am sure.

Christmas with the DMV

Well, working at the DMV sure has it's drama attached, and the yearly Christmas Party is no exception. My first party working there was 2006, which was a blast. Then 2007 was really bad, and because the people from the Carson City office have 1000 and we only have 100, they tend to exclude us. The 2007 party resulted in turf war and drama. Reno DMV wasn't invited to the 2008 party, ha. Our new director who took over earlier this year made sure this party wouldn't be a bust, and that Reno was included. It was held at the Peppermill Casino (Same place we wished everyone could have stayed for the wedding) and was a lot nicer than years past (It's usually held at the Silver Legacy.) All season long people at work have been calling it the "Prom for Adults," and once we got in, Ray realized why. He dressed up all handsome-like (And with a tie to his utter dismay!) and I did my best to not look 8 months pregnant instead of almost 4. The evening consisted of our table getting pretty sloshed, and hooting things during the raffles (I, of course, don't need alcohol to participate!) We had a good dinner, danced, and just talked with a bunch of good people. The worst part of the DMV is the job itself- definitely not the people. Even my supervisors were getting crazy on the dance floor! We were there until about 10:30/11:00 pm and then drove home in a horrible blizzard. We probably passed 3 or 4 accidents on the interstate during the way. I'm sure Ray has mentioned, we have gotten almost 3 feet of snow in the past 2 weeks. We have so many people from California transplanted here, it makes for terrible road conditions.
Today we picked up Carly from her dad's and then went to take pictures for our Christmas Cards. My little sisters boyfriend is an aspiring photographer and does and awesome job, especially getting the moments you didn't know where there. During the session, Carly and my little sister, Jordan, engaged in a snowball fight, and Carly would run up to about 1 foot away from her before throwing it. The fight ended when Jordan accidentally got the Princess in the face, and started some tears. Carly really wanted to build a snowman, but our snow was so cold at first it wasn't sticking, so we will try to do that tomorrow and take some pictures. When Carly got home tonight, she realized the tree had presents under it, (Thanks Grandma Dawn, and Grandpa Tony!) And she asked about 3 times if she could open them.
We will be mailing out Christmas Cards and presents this week to everyone, so watch the mail later on! We have a baby appointment this Thursday, but it doesn't sound like anything too exciting. The big ultrasound is scheduled for January 13th, but any child of ours is bound to be difficult and either turn away or cross their legs! Hopefully one of us will be updating with some more snow pictures later on this week!
